Fundraising – Trivia night
Our Trivia night at the Freeway Hotel was a great success. Thank you to the over 170 people that attended to support our athletes and have an entertaining evening of trivia, games and gymnastics. Hope that you all learnt something, who knew that Xi Lin was a Hula hoop specialist!!
Thank you to all the local business and families who donated wine, chocolate and a wide range of vouchers from the always need remedial massage to dining at the Sydney Restaurant Group. We are still doing the sums but this has made a great contribution to helping our athletes achieve their dreams

Fundraising – Cake Stall
The first of our fundraising events was a cake stall in Chatswood Mall. The gymnasts thrilled the crowds with their skills, performing in 32°C heat.
Thank you to all the SXL parents and gymnasts who baked a very tasty array of cakes and to everyone who stopped by to support the squad, buy a cake, raffle ticket or make a donation.
Las Vegas Acro Cup
As part of their build up to the World Age Championships SXL took a team to the Las Vegas Acro Cup
Our teams achieved some amazing results:
- Shennei and Stella (11-16 Women’s Pair) – 1st place achieving GOLD.
- Nick and Kristen (13-19 Mixed Pair) – 1st place achieving GOLD.
- Kaitlyn, Hayley and Lily (Level 9 Trio) – 11th place in their first International Competition.
FIAC 2018 round up
This trip has been a real learning experience for our gymnasts, the different training and competition environment that they adapted to so well and experiencing acrobatics gymnastics at its highest level has been a wonderful experience for them all. Continue reading FIAC 2018 round up
Competition day 2 FIAC 2018
After feeling very proud of their results from yesterday’s balance routines, the two trios competed their dynamic routine this morning. The routines were energetic and both groups performed exceptionally well.
The trio of Priya, Phoebe and Elizabeth finished in 20th place overall scoring 50.20 after both routines. Cassie, Clara and Teisha finished in 22nd place overall with a score of 49.95. Both trios are feeling extremely proud of their achievements at this international competition.
Once again, they were able to watch the World Cup and were honoured to be able to view the sport at its highest level.
Competition day 1 FIAC 2018
Today both trios stepped out onto the world stage and did so with confidence and maturity. In a huge field of 41 trios the 11- 16 women’s groups both did crisp, clean balance routines and their choreography stood out from the crowd earning them good artistry scores. Cassie, Clara and Teisha are sitting in 18th place with a score of 25.80. Priya, Phoebe and Elizabeth are currently 23rd scoring 25.45. Podium training
Today we had an early start with podium training in the morning. It was very exciting training alongside other countries and watching their higher level skills.
We visited Bruges after training where we ate lots of chocolate samples from shops and walked around the town.
Pumped for competition tomorrow with another early start in the morning!
Sightseeing in Mechelen
The team took the opportunity for some sightseeing in historic Mechelen, enjoying the cobbled streets and beautiful architecture.

Headed for FIAC 2018
The first group of our international athletes started their journey to Belgium today. Cassie,Clara & Teisha and Priya, Phoebe & Buffy flew from Sydney early Sunday morning to Brussels. They will be competing in the Flanders International Acro Cup.

Antonia & Nicole 12-18 WP
Antonia and Nicole first competed together in 2013 as a level 5 women’s pair. Throughout their 6 year partnership, they have grown together and gained valuable experience from competing in numerous competitions within Australia as well as across the globe. This includes representing Australia as an 11-16 Women’s Pair at the World Age Group Competition in Putian, China 2016, with a result of 13th place and second reserve for finals. Additionally, they competed in Las Vegas, USA at the Las Vegas Cup 2017, achieving an incredible outcome of 3rd place.
The girls feel extremely honoured and privileged to be representing Australia for a second time as a 12-18 Women’s Pair in Belgium this year.
Katie, Frances, Alexandra 12-18 WG
This trio was formed 18 months ago. But before this trio, Katie and Alex, as partners in another trio, represented Australia at the 2016 World Age Group Championship in China. Since Katie, Frances and Alex have been together, they have competed at many events and achieved a qualification onto the Australian National Squad in 2016 as an 11-16 trio and 2017 as a 12-18 trio. Last year they had the opportunity to compete at the Vegas Acro Cup in March, and the Australian National Championship in June. In November they were selected to represent Australia at the 2018 World Age Group Championship to be held in Belgium.
Stella & Shennei 11-16 WP
Shennei & Stella have been competing together for almost 4 years at 3 State Championships, 2 National Championships and internationally at the Las Vegas Acro Cup in 2017. Two years ago the pair set their sights on the 2018 World Championships. After 2 years of intense training, sweat and sacrifice the pair are thrilled to represent Australia and compete at the upcoming World Championships in Belgium.

Cassie, Clara, Teisha 11-16 WG
This trio have been working together for over three years now. They were L6 National Champions in 2016 and achieved silver in the 2017 Australian National Championships, International 11-16. The trio competed in the Vegas Acro Cup in 2017 narrowly missing out on a place in the finals. They will be representing Australia at the Flanders International Acro Cup and are also reserve for the World Age Group Championships.
